In this episode, Ryan and I get a little kid free time at our land which is GREAT because we have a fun new tool that we are hoping will be a great resource to us with lumber prices being so high. We get to try out our chainsaw mill (or Alaskan mill as some people call it). We are hoping that this tool will help us take advantage of the lumber on our land and build some of the shelving and furniture in our cabin. If this works, it will help us save BIG because lumber prices are HIGH right now. Along with trying out our chainsaw mill, we get to try out another new tool that my Dad purchased for us that will be a game changer in building log cabin style furniture. This will be another amazing tool that may help us save big over time. Lastly, we are excited to take you along on some family adventures. Sara’s parents visit us all the way from Iowa and we are so excited to show them our land. And then Sara’s sister, surprises our kids with an EPIC birthday present. And now a little back story on us, in case you just found us on YouTube. We’re Sara and Ryan. We are your average suburban family, but 8 years ago, we purchased a raw piece of land in the Hood Canal in Washington. We’ve been developing this piece of property slowly, and this year we knew it was time to go all in. So we purchased a log cabin kit home and decided that 2020 would be the year we built a house on our property. We plan to build this cabin (as much as we can) on our own. Unfortunately, COVID-19 put a delay on our cabin kit being produced and delivered in the time frame we had originally planned. While we could have just waited it out and pushed back starting on the build of our home, we decided to shift gears and change our course for the time being. We purchased a 30 foot yurt, and will be setting it up as additional living space when we begin to build our cabin. Follow along with us as we build our dream in the Hood Canal.
