We are well into the project of installing the permanent electrical to our future a-frame cabin. This project requires us to lay a little over 300 ft. of thick wire from our main panel to the sub panel for our cabin. To pass our inspection, we must lay the wire 24 inches below ground level and it must be wide enough to fit both the electrical wire and the water line that must THEN be 12 inches apart. We were fortunate enough to be able to rent an excavator and we TOTALLY needed it. As you’ll see in this episode, we hit a MAJOR underground rock wall. It was super tough to get through, and we were thankful to have the excavator to help break the rock apart as we went. And now a little back story on us, in case you just found us on YouTube. We’re Sara and Ryan. We are your average suburban family, but 9 years ago, we purchased a raw piece of land in the Hood Canal in Washington. We’ve been developing this piece of property slowly, and in 2019, we knew it was time to go all in. So we purchased a log cabin kit home and decided that 2020 would be the year we built a house on our property. We plan to build this cabin (as much as we can) on our own. Unfortunately, COVID-19 put a delay on our cabin kit being produced and delivered in the time frame we had originally planned. So the cabin kit arrival was pushed back to 2021. We have patiently waited, and NOW it is finally go time! We have moved our family from our comfy suburban home, and are living in a camper trailer and 30 ft. yurt while we build our dream a-frame cabin in the woods! Follow along with us as we build our dream in the Hood Canal.
